Synopsis

In a past age of colonization, two fictitious nations stand opposed: Hastan and the conquering Llehstanz Monarchy.

After years of war, the final battle for Hastan is won under the command of Colonel Valstohl Baquiste, a brilliant, ambitious, ruthless officer whose reputation for victory is matched only by his prejudice against the Hastanas.

But triumph comes at a cost.

During the decisive battle, Baquiste is unexpectedly attacked and left permanently wounded. With his military career seemingly over, the embittered colonel prepares to return home in disgrace.

Instead, he receives one final assignment.

Called back into service on a secret mission, Baquiste must travel alone and in disguise to capture a group of elusive attackers threatening a Llehstanzite regiment. His search leads him far from the battlefield to the palace of Sir Bojeshnomaan Yervaan, a powerful Southern Hastana landowner whose influence and intentions are far from clear.

Within Yervaan’s domain, the wounded colonel finds himself trapped in a web of manipulation, suspicion, and hidden motives.

To succeed in this delicate affair, Baquiste must confront not only a dangerous adversary, but also the prejudice and ghosts of war that haunt him.

For the first time in his military career, victory may demand more than discipline and strategy.

It may require Colonel Valstohl Baquiste’s humanity.
